getting on the ball.

So it's no secret that I gained 60 lbs while I was pregnant with Bennet, which was really hard for me since I have struggled my entire life with weight issues. I had really hoped that I'd have the mindset that gaining weight was just a part of pregnancy & that I would be able to handle it, knowing I would just lose it all once he was born. That definitely wasn't the case. There were lots of tears & lots of misery...and I know for certain that the next time I'm pregnant, I will exercise a lot more and be a lot more careful what I eat. I think it's very easy to eat whatever you want and be lazy and make excuses because you're pregnant. I won't do that next time. The best advice I was given that I didn't take was from my doctor. She said to me, "Remember, you're not eating for two - you're eating twice as healthy." I should have made that my pregnancy mantra. I will next time.

Granted, a lot of the weight I gained was fluid. I know that for sure because I lost nearly 30 lbs in the first month after Bennet was born. Unfortunately, the other 30 were not fluid, they were fat, and now I think it's time to get on the ball and get rid of this extra weight. I'm very tired of feeling so run down and feeling fat all the time. It's time to get a move on!

SO...I started Weight Watchers again on this past Friday. I am a huge fan of Weight Watchers, having used it to keep my weight in check for the past 5 years (For those of you who don't know, I lost about 70 lbs several years ago.) I think that of all the diet programs out there, WW is the most realistic and the most "do-able," so I am really excited to get going with it!

As of Friday's weigh in, I have lost 29.4 pounds of baby weight. Hopefully my WW experience will prove very successful and it won't be too long before I'm at pre-baby weight once again! (I'm in a wedding on August 23rd so I am extra motivated!) My long-term plan is to reach my pre-baby weight and then keep going to be at my wedding weight (which is another 15 lbs to lose.) Wish me luck - I'll keep everyone posted!

I am beginning to understand your frustration at gaining weight. Since i have gained 10 pounds since my last doctor's appt. I am super nervous to be seeing her on Thursday. I just hope she doesn't tell me what a horrible job that I am doing. I am glad that you posted this blog though. It reminds me that I need to do a lot more exercising and watching what I eat. Good luck with WW and as soon as I can I will be joining you guys!
