So here I am - 28 years old, birthday over, facing a normal day. Another year has come and gone and I am looking forward to a new year full of new happenings. My mother-in-law made the comment that last year will be a hard one to beat with so many happy events...but I'm up for the challenge.
My 28th birthday was wonderful. Bennet, Sophie and I went for a nice, long walk in the morning. Then, Andrew surprised me by calling and saying that he'd come home to have lunch with me and bring me whatever I wanted. (I had a chicken cheese steak from Magerks - yum!) I got lots of birthday wishes all day on the phone, over e-mail, etc. Last night, we went out to dinner at Luca's Cafe with Alex and Janel, Tim and Laura, Eric and Natalie and Adam. After dinner, Andrew and I went to our favorite neighborhood bar, Thornton's Pub, and our favorite neighborhood bartender, Tina, had a birthday drink with me. Then, we ended the night by taking the baby monitor next door to our new neighbor, Carlos', house and chatting with him and our other neighbor, Melissa, for a while. (City rowhomes are awesome because the baby monitor reaches like 4 homes down in either direction and it's still like you're in the same house as the baby.) It was great to chat with Carlos and get to know him better. I think he'll be a great addition to Cooksie Street.
Best part of my birthday by far was when we went to Thornton's Pub and I, still wearing my Birthday Princess hat, sat next to a really nice lady who was there alone. (I love strangers in bars.) She told us her 40th birthday was this Saturday, so I gave her my hat to wear! She was so excited about having such a fab hat to celebrate in, and I made her promise to pass it on to someone else after she was finished with it. Andrew made a great pop culture reference to the hat being like "the traveling pants." Loves it.
This morning, Andrew asked me if my birthday was great because he "tried all day to make sure I had a wonderful birthday." I told him he succeeded. Such a good birthday...hopefully an equally good year!

YEAH!!! I am sorry I couldn't spend the evening with you...especially since no one showed for Club. *grrr* I am glad you had a great one! You deserve it TT!
That's awesome. And kudos to Andrew for the "travelling pants" referrance. And Way to "Pay it Forward", Terri! ;-)
PS - does Andrew give "birthday" lessons? Kyle could use a few...
Doesn't it just make your heart smile when the guys try so hard to make us happy? Love them! I am so glad that you had a wonderful birthday AND that you shared your wonderful cheer with other people.
