project 365: week 26
August 23, 2009: Our neighbors adopted the neighborhood alley cat a few years ago, but old habits die hard. Mr. Bruno still loves to roam the alley, and stops by our back porch every day for some cat treats! Bennet loves him and chases him around the back yard squealing. I don't think that's very fair to Mr. Bruno, so we've started watching him enjoy his snack from inside the house!
August 24, 2009: Bennet and I ran into Wal Mart to buy diapers, and stumbled across his Halloween costume - Brobee from Yo Gabba Gabba! I had been planning to make a Brobee costume for him, but when I saw this great one for $20, I knew I had to buy it! He's not a fan of keeping the hat on his head so far, but I'm hoping that if we keep practicing wearing it, he'll be good to go by Halloween!
September 25, 2009: Ashley generously offered to let Bennet have a sleep over with her at her new apartment, so Andrew and I went out on the town! We had dinner, and then saw a movie. Here I am with my movie-theater-Cherry-Coke, which is one of my favorite treats ever! I always get the large sized one (it's only 75 cents more!) and I'm always amazed that I drink the whole thing. Mmmm!
September 26, 2009: The Locust Point Festival is always one of our favorite neighborhood events to go to. There are food vendors, live bands, games, and a kids area full of activities for the little ones. We were excited to take Bennet to the kids area and let him play games and have his face painted. As is usually the case with toddlers, he had other plans. His only interest was playing on the playground, and he cried every time we tried to get him to do anything else. He plays on this playground every day, and you would think that fun, new activities would be interesting to him - not the case. This child has a mind of his own!
September 27, 2009: Since our new church doesn't start their Sunday morning service until 11 a.m., we've been having a struggle keeping Bennet awake on the drive home. If he falls asleep, he doesn't take a very good nap, so we've implemented several strategies to get him home without falling asleep. We pack a lunch for him, and one of us sits in the back seat with him to make sure he eats lunch and stays awake. Here, we were about a half a mile from home and he could barely keep his eyes open! Good thing Andrew was in the back with him, making sure there were no mini-naps in the back seat!
September 28, 2009: This day was Dee's first day back at work from maternity leave. Bennet and I wanted to take her flowers and a card to cheer her up. We went to the Safeway near her work to pick up flowers and Bennet got to ride in this cool shopping cart! It was called a TV Cart and had a small TV in the front for kids to watch. Bennet loved getting to watch Barney while I shopped in the store!
September 29, 2009: Bennet and I spent the morning at the zoo with our friends the Smiths. Ensley and Scarlett are two of his favorite friends! This morning, they really enjoyed Base Camp Discovery, an educational area at the zoo. They loved digging through the sandbox and finding the little, plastic frogs, lizards and snakes that were buried there!

I swear I could be reading my own blog sometimes. First, I was totally looking for Broobie costume for Weston. I even checked Walmart and they didn't have it! So jealous you found one! I have no idea what to dress him as. Second, Cherry Coke...seriously!!! Mike and I don't go to the movies without getting Cherry Coke and Raisinettes! :)
GOSH Broobie for Halloween...I can't hardly stand to wait to see the outcome!!! Oh the pictures!!
