valentine's day.

Time continues to get away from me. By the time I find a minute to sit down and blog about something, it seems to be old news. Nevertheless, our Valentine's Day was such fun that I thought it would be worth it to share some stories and photos, even a week late.

One of my very favorite parts of Valentine's Day this year was a few days before, when Bennet and I baked sugar cookies together. I wasn't sure if he would be interested in baking at this age, but he had a great time cutting heart shapes out of the cookie dough and decorating them when they came out of the oven. He even learned to say "cookie" that day, and has asked us for a cookie several times a day every day since.

I'm loving that Bennet is getting older and enjoys different activities like baking, painting, coloring or making crafts. It makes our days together a lot more fun!

On Valentine's Day, I woke up to beautiful roses and Valentines from Andrew and Bennet. The roses were Laguna Roses, which were our wedding flowers, and are some of my very favorite flowers. My boys are so thoughtful.

We bought Bennet a wooden train track set from Ikea as his V-Day present, and he loved it. We're still building train tracks several times a day around our house.

Valentine's night, we let Bennet eat one of his big heart cookies for dinner and then put him to bed. Andrew and I ordered take out from a yummy Mediterranean restaurant in our neighborhood, and enjoyed our dinner of kabobs, hummus and a feta and olive salad very much. Sometimes it's the little nights - ordering in, avoiding crowded restaurants, and spending time together that are really the most special!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day!

That all sounds so sweet. I bet it does make a difference to have Bennet active and independent enough to do things WITH you instead of you doing them FOR him. Have fun!!!
