anniversary trip.

For our anniversary, Andrew booked us an amazing overnight trip to a bed and breakfast. He had read about Antrim 1844 many times, hearing that it had one of the best restaurants in Maryland hidden in its basement. He wanted to keep the plan a surprise, but was so excited for it that he told me about a week ago where he was taking me. I hadn't heard of Antrim 1844 before, but after checking out the website, I was really excited, too! My mom and Ashley split taking care of the kids, and we got to enjoy an amazing overnight trip to a place that I'd never even heard of a week ago, but now couldn't imagine not going back to again.

Antrim 1844 is an old plantation in Carroll County that has been renovated to be a bed and breakfast. Our room was in the Mansion House, and it was incredible.

After we checked into our room, we took a walk around the grounds before getting ready for our dinner. The grounds were beautiful, complete with a pool that took my breath away. I wish we would have had more time there - I could have spent an entire day lounging in the gardens by the pool, relaxing.

Our dinner took about three hours to get through. It started with cocktails and passed hors d'ouevres on the back porch while we watched the sun go down. We then moved into the dining room where we had a little, secluded table for two, right next to a piano player. Our dinner was six courses, and each course had a wine pairing with it. The food was absolutely incredible. They even brought us a signed menu from the chef, wishing us a happy anniversary, and a dessert plate complete with a chocolate bar that said "Happy Anniversary." Amazing!

We loved having such a long dinner. We definitely don't get three uninterrupted hours to sit and talk and enjoy each other's company these days with two little ones!

In the morning, they brought us a "Wake Up Tray" with coffee and muffins. Then, after getting dressed for the day, we went to the dining room for a wonderful breakfast before heading home.
We had such a great time on our little anniversary overnight. We both soaked up all the little luxuries that getting away without kiddos can bring - from the peace and quiet to the extended time alone together. A special thanks to my mommy and Ashley for watching the kids...without their help, we wouldn't have been able to sneak away for a special celebration together!
