It's no secret that I have one pancake-obsessed toddler in my house. Saturday mornings are pancake mornings in our house, and making the same, old pancakes every weekend can get a little boring! I had tried cutting Monkey's pancakes into shapes with cookie cutters, or dressed them up with berries or chocolate chips, but I was running out of ideas. Through some online searching, I found Shape-Its, and I could not wait to get my hands on some and give them a try!
Shape-Its are food molds that are stove-top and oven safe. They come in over 30 shapes - from animals, to cars, to holiday themed designs. They can be used for pancakes, pizza, cookies, ice-cream, brownies, and any other type of food that can be molded into a shape. If you've ever met a toddler - you know that this is a very cool idea!
Michelle, the creator of Shape-Its, sent me three Shape-Its food forms to try out at home. We received the dog, pig and giraffe. Aren't they cool? Those little handles on the sides stand up so you can touch them while they're in a pan or on a baking sheet. I especially love the pig because the head is separate, and then you place it in the middle of the pig's body for a three-dimensional look. Too cute!
So, how did Shape-Its shape up for our Saturday morning pancake breakfasts? Bennet loved them. Our favorites were the giraffe pancakes, which he asks for just about every morning. It definitely took a little bit of time for me to master flipping pancakes that had such a long neck - but once I got the hang of it, I felt like a giraffe-pancake-making pro! I bought some icing writers at the craft store, and we had a great time decorating "Mr. & Mrs. Giraffe," getting them ready for their breakfast debut!
