Since Bennet and I made Andrew and Grandpa Don presents for Father's Day at Amazing Glaze with Bennet's footprints on them, Grandma Darlene has been jealous. I promised her we would go at some point this summer to make something for her. Yesterday, we finally made it to Pic N Paint Pottery in Pasadena.
Mom decided she wanted to make two coffee cups - one for her and one for Dad. I wasn't sure what I'd make, since I am still being teased in our house for the wine glass I made at our last Amazing Glaze Ladies' Night. However, after looking through some idea books, I came across the cutest "monkey" plate, where you use their handprints or footprints as palm trees. Since Bennet's nickname is Monkey AND his nursery is a jungle theme, I knew I had to make it. It turned out adorable, and the monkeys are made from my thumbprint and my mom's thumbprint, so I'll have a great keepsake of the day I actually got my mother into a pottery studio.
Bennet did really well with the foot-painting/ foot-stamping this time. I was relieved considering that last time we went, he screamed like someone was murdering him through the entire process. Thank goodness I didn't have to go through that again! Maybe this means I can take him back again soon...
Here are some pictures of the big day.
