sewing projects.

A few months ago, I set out to learn to sew. I've tackled lots of projects - many of them have been great learning experiences. There have been disasters. There have been successes. Throughout the process, I've learned that, like anything, sewing takes practice. The more things I sew, the more skills I pick up and semi-master. I've been so lucky that there are so many fabulous sewing blogs out there - They have been my greatest teachers over the past few months! I'm still learning. It's a process! But I'm having a lot of fun with it, which I think is the most important part of all!

Here are some of the projects I've completed recently...

I made this apron from a vintage pattern I picked up at a thrift store. I gave it to our friend Janel for her birthday.

This skirt came from one of my favorite blogs, Angry Chicken. This is her 5 Minute Skirt tutorial. I especially loved making it because I learned how to use fold over elastic. I adore fold over elastic. Hoping to get to use more if it in upcoming projects!

This is my most recent creation - just finished this morning! It's from another favorite sewing blog of mine, Sew, Mama, Sew! I followed their Spring Ruffle Top tutorial. This top is probably the most difficult project I've tackled. I am so proud of it!

Some upcoming projects on my "to do" list: a beach cover up and a sundress. Thanks to my sewing hero, Trisha, I now also have my eye on a stroller cover. I'm looking forward to tackling more projects and learning more about sewing! It'll be an adventure, I'm sure!

That shirt is so cute! I love that blog as well - both of them actually. Both of them happen to be out of Portland too, funny enough. You inspire me to sew more. I have all kinds of ideas but haven't produced much as of late. Good for you - keep it up!

Wow Terri! That's impressive. I'm just excited if I can feed the 3 of us and make sure Priya has some type of shoes on her feet. Good for you!
