Today I went for my third trimester ultrasound. Everything with this pregnancy is going so well that my midwife wasn't planning to send me for one, but I asked her to send me anyway for three reasons. # 1 - I wanted to make sure Kennedy is still a girl. # 2 - I was curious what they are guessing her weight to be right now. # 3 - I wanted to see her one more time on the inside!
The best news is that, yes, she is still a girl! I have been secretly terrified all this time that we'd go in for this ultrasound and find out that the early ones were wrong and she was a boy. I've given away all of my boy clothes and sold all of my boy crib bedding, so I was very nervous!
Here's a picture of her side profile. You can see her little lips and nose and forehead jutting out. She looks a lot like Bennet did at this point, with the lips and nose. I can't wait to see what she looks like in real life!
They are estimating that right now, she weighs about 6 pounds, 8 ounces. This was quite a relief considering that at my 36 week appointment with Bennet, they started telling me he was 10 1/2 pounds! Everyone has told me that little girls are smaller than little boys, and that second babies are usually smaller than first babies. I'm pleased to see that this seems to be true in our case!
Here's one more picture of her little face. I turned it sideways because it's of her face from the front. You can see her lips and nose and nostrils. Her little eyes look dark because of the shading - I think she looks like a member of KISS!
All of my little phobias in these final days were calmed today, thankfully! We have a beautiful baby girl coming who is most likely itty bitty! Can't beat that! We're only a little over two weeks from meeting her, and still hoping she makes an appearance before then on her own! Come on out, Baby Kennedy!
