Dollop Frosting Spread–Review & Giveaway!

When my kids asked me what we were having for dinner last night, I told them “things dipped in icing.”  I’m sure they thought I was crazy, but I wasn’t – I was just working on a review of Dollop’s brand new product, their Gourmet Frosting Spread!

If Dollop sounds familiar to you, it’s because they’re a pretty big deal in the world of cupcake-baking.  These ladies have won Cupcake Wars and all sorts of other competitions, and they’re currently working to encourage sweet-lovers to Break Away From The Cake and try their new frosting packets on everything from potato chips to apples to bagels!

I served our packets of Peanut Butter Cookie Dough frosting to the kids last night with apple slices and pretzel bites for dipping.  They loved it.  Loved it like they were scraping their fingers on the plate, licking the icing off. 
I’d like to go on record saying that, while I didn’t taste the frosting (not even a tiny taste) due to my HCG diet, from the rave reviews it got from the kids and my husband, it’ll definitely be on my list of things to try in a few months when I’m finished losing weight!  Everything  in moderation, right?

I really liked the way these new frostings are packaged.  Small portions, easy to take on the go, easy to store for the occasional special treat – such a great idea!

project 365: week 101

March 2, 2011:  It was a semi-warm day outside, so when Andrew came home from work we played in the back yard with the kids.  Beanie loved hanging out in the back of Bennet’s big dump truck, and did some back yard fishing when Bennet gave her his little fishing rod!

March 3, 2011:  Yum – frozen peas!  Frozen veggies are one of Kennedy’s favorite dinner items lately.  I guess the coldness feels good on her poor, teething gums!

March 4, 2011:  My friend Jess invited some friends over to sew and work on our craft projects, and I took brownies to share with everyone.  Bennet loved helping me make them AND licking the bowl when we were finished!

March 5, 2011:  Bennet’s best friend Zachary, from his preschool class, had his 3rd birthday party at a local “bounce” place.  Bennet was so excited to go to the party!  We had a great time, and it was so funny to see Bennet interact with all of his little school buddies!

March 6, 2011:  We had my friends Jess and Kristen and their husbands and kids over for dinner.  Andrew made fajitas, I made sangria, and we all had a great time hanging out and relaxing!  Jess and Kristen are friends I’ve made through my Moms Club, and I am so thankful to have met them!

March 7, 2011:  Monday nights are “trash night” around our house.  Bennet loves rounding up all of the garbage and taking it out with his Daddy!  It’s so cute to see him doing such a grown up chore!

March 8, 2011:  My sweet Bean has been teething and has been miserable with a cold.  Most evenings, I end up wearing her in the snuggly wrap while I make dinner.  Mommy snuggles make everything better!

project 365: week 100

I can’t believe I’m only a few short weeks from finishing my 2nd year of Project 365.  I’m trying to decide whether or not to continue it for a third year.  I’ve looked into some other similar ideas, and can’t decide if it’s time to try something new or if I should continue on with more of the same.  Decisions, decisions…

February 23, 2011:  This is Beanie’s new favorite place in the house to be.  She loves sitting on this quilt, playing with her little box of random baby toys.  Sometimes she’ll sit there for an hour, checking out everything in the box and chewing on everything!

February 24, 2011:  To celebrate my new freelance job, and having a tiny amount of money to spend on frivolous things, I bought myself this beautiful necklace from an Etsy shop I love – ALovellyDesign.  It has two peas in a pod – for my two babies – and each of the leaves is stamped with a letter – one with a “b” and one with a “k.”  It’s so pretty.  I am really pleased with how it turned out!

February 25, 2011:  This picture cracks me up.  It had been a sunny morning, unseasonably warm for February.  We were driving home from a play date, and I was so inspired by the warm weather that I decided to stop into Michael’s to buy supplies to make a Spring wreath.  While we were in the store, it started raining and hailing!  We got absolutely soaked trying to make it out to the car, and I took this shot of Bennet and I, looking like drowned rats!  So much for my Spring weather!

February 26, 2011:  My doughnut pan came in the mail, and I was so excited to bake doughnuts for our Saturday morning breakfast.  They looked yummy, but didn’t taste so good.  I need to research some better cake doughnut recipes for our next attempt!

February 27, 2011:  Another lovely day weather-wise, and the entire family went for a walk around our neighborhood.  Bennet refused to try to use the potty before we left, and peed his pants on the playground.  I think he learned that it’s always better to check to see if you need to go before you leave for a walk, because today we went for another walk and he went and used the potty before we left without an argument!

February 28, 2011:  Dinner – White Chicken Chili and mini cornbread muffins.  Amazing.  Yum.

March 1, 2011:  It was sunny outside today, but a little chilly.  Bennet wanted to play in the back yard while I made lunch, so I stuck Kennedy on the back porch in her Bumbo to soak in some sun.  She looks pretty ridiculous crammed into the seat with her bulky snow suit on.  Poor Bean.
