today a year ago blog hop–#2

Welcome to 'Today A Year Ago' Thursday Blog Hop

Lets go down memory lane! Every 3rd Thursday of the month, come join us in 'Today A Year Ago'! It can be something you posted on your blog a year ago, a memory, a photo or even a video taken a year ago!

I'm so excited to be hosting the hop this week with Wyatt Family Farm and Mommy Only Has Two Hands!  I first stumbled on this hop last month, and I really enjoyed posting what we were up to on that day a year ago!

TODAY a year ago, we had just gotten back from a trip up to PA to visit Andrew's brother and our sister-in-law. I will never forget that weekend because I came down with a horrible stomach virus, and spent a night vomiting in their bathroom - I'm sure they were thrilled to have me and my germs there! Shortly after we we got back, our chihuahua, Sophie, bit Bennet in the face - because he was teasing her.  He ended up with a pretty major face wound – but I can definitely say that since that day, he has teased her a lot less!

Sigh.  I can't believe how much Bennet has grown since then.  He's such a big boy now.  And it's so weird to think that Kennedy was still in my tummy this time last year.  I feel like she's always been here - I cannot imagine what life was like without our baby girl!

So What Happened With You A Year Ago Today?

project 365: week 95

project 365

1.19.11

January 19, 2011: I made these Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies from a recipe I saw in Whole Living Magazine – they were yummy, and I couldn’t stop eating them. We’ll definitely be making them again!

1.20.11

January 20, 2011: Andrew’s grandma passed away, and although we headed up to PA and back fairly quickly, I’m so glad that we were able to attend the funeral service, and visit with all of the aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members who came into town as well. This was the first time we got all four of the Peters cousins – Raegan, Bennet, Jacob and Kennedy - together for a photo!

1.21.11

January 21, 2011: Kennedy loves carbs like her momma. Here she is, at the lunch held after Grandma’s funeral, chowing down on bread and macaroni & cheese. That’s my girl!

1.22.11

January 22, 2011: Back in town, I made a long overdue trip to the grocery store. Bennet was excited that I brought home so many of his favorite snacks, and promptly requested a bowl of grapes and strawberries!

1.23.11

January 23, 2011: I picked up this Imaginarium train conductor’s hat at the Goodwill in PA when we were visiting – for 49 cents! Bennet has been wearing it non-stop, but Kennedy did steal a turn with it long enough for Daddy to take a picture.

1.24.11

January 24, 2011: Beanie can sit up on her own now…sort of. She manages to hold herself up for a few minutes before getting tired and falling over. I kept making her sit up to play with her toys – and she got increasingly tired as our little practice session went on!

1.25.11

January 25, 2011: I recently read a blog post on forcing bulbs in your kitchen window, over at the Blissfully Domestic blog, and wanted to try it out. Andrew and Bennet found me some paper white bulbs at the hardware store, and I plopped them into mason jars to try it out. They’re really starting to grow, and I cannot wait to have little, white flowers growing in my windowsill!

Photo Fans – I’m excited to announce that tomorrow night, I’ll be guest hosting the Today A Year Ago Blog Hop, along with Wyatt Family Farm and Mommy Only Has Two Hands – two blogs I loooooove! I’m so excited that they picked me, as I loved participating in the hop a few weeks ago. Stay tuned for information on how to participate, too – the hop goes live tomorrow night!

today a year ago blog hop - #1

Thursday Blog Hops

I was so excited to come across the "Today A Year Ago" Blog Hop on one of my new favorite blogs - Wyatt Family Farm. Every third Thursday, we'll be going back to a year ago - and remembering what I was blogging about way back when. It's funny to think that, a year ago, I was only about 8 weeks pregnant with Bean, and I was sick, exhausted, and doing lots of throwing up. Must have been all of those female hormones in my body, although at the time, I would never have guessed I'd be blessed enough to have a sweet, little daughter to love!

I had to laugh when I saw that, on December 15th - a year ago today - I posted a Project 365 where I talked about Bennet stalking me in the kitchen while I did some Christmas baking. I remember so well being in the exhausting first trimester of my pregnancy with Kennedy and having an 18-month-old who wanted "Momma Momma Momma" all the time.

The funniest part is, a year later, he still wants me all the time. He calls for me when he wakes up in the morning, he wants me to snuggle him in bed when he wakes up from his nap, and every night at bath time he asks, "Momma wash Nennet? Momma wash Nennet?" He is a momma's boy in every sense of the word, and the thing I am most thankful for a year later is that I am not too sick, tired and pregnant to appreciate it. I just want to soak up every moment of him thinking Momma is the greatest person in the world, because I know that, before I know it, he'll be a grown up and I'll miss these Momma-loving days terribly.

It's also funny that, a year after I banned him from the kitchen because he was driving me crazy, we spent our afternoon today baking cupcakes together. He even told Daddy when he got home from work that he was "bakin's with Momma" today. That confirms even more for me that we are finished having babies - I'm too much of a miserable, worn-out pregnant lady to do it again and miss out on any more moments of loving my little ones!
